WHAT IS THE TAROT, ITS ORIGIN AND PURPOSE

NAPOLEON'S FORTUNE TELLER:
Marie Anne Adelaide Lenormand (1772–1843) was Napoleon's personal tarot reader, she had great fame during the Napoleonic period.
In France she is considered the greatest cartomante of all time, as she had a great influence on the rise of French cartomancy that began in the 18th century.
Lenormand advised many famous people through cartomancy, including the leaders of the French Revolution (Marat, Robespierre and Saint-Just), Napoleon and his wife Empress Josephine and Tsar Alexander.
She also acted as a Spanish tarot reader, in the sense she foreshadowed the emergence of a major character who was going to stand out in the history of Spain. Unfortunately she could saw future dramatic details of her own life, including the trip to Russia where she would mourn for her son.
She worked as a private tarot reader for more than 40 years.
In 1814 Lenormand published numerous texts, causing much public controversy. She was imprisoned more than once, although never for long.
Lenormand died in Paris on June 25, 1843,
After Lenormand's death she name was given to the 36 illustrated cards she used for her consultations, known as the Lenormand deck, which is still widely used today.
